Amelia Warner is a 24 year veteran of the New York City Correction Department. Upon her completion of the Academy, she was assigned to AMKC where she frequently worked in Mental Observation Housing Area. In 1996, she was assigned to GRVC where she continued working all Housing Area Post and Support Service Post until she was awarded the Custody Desk Post. This allowed her to broaden her job knowledge and work experience. The General Office gave her exposure to outside agencies and other areas within the Department, i.e. Courts, Parole, Custody Management, Immigration, and other facilities.
In 2008 she was elected the Delegate for GRVC, working the Central Control Room gave her direct communication to her members who at time called on her for assistance and representation with issues. Amelia was honored for her craft and recognized by the Executive Board.
In 2010 she was assigned to the COBA Executive Board as the “Delegate-At-Large.” She continued to work in facilities throughout the Department and represented Correction Officers at informal Command Discipline hearings as well as formal OATH hearings; to ensure that all Officers receive fair and equitable treatment.
In 2013, Amelia was appointed to the Executive Board as Financial Secretary, because of her vigorous dedication and commitment to the members and the COBA. She was instrumental in getting members to support the Widows and Children’s Fund by making purchases of items for the COBA webstore as well as being able to purchase items at the Retiree Seminar, Delegate Seminar, Circle of Sisters at the Javits Center and Rye Playland.
